New voice would help District 16B

"I read the recent St. Cloud Times article outlining our District 16B state representative candidates' list of priorities.
I found it particularly interesting that Rep. Mark Olson is now saying that he has never supported Personal Rapid Transit as an option in place of the Northstar Corridor. He is now saying his support for PRT is to replace buses in the metropolitan area.
This surprised me because I served in the Legislature with Olson for eight years where I listened to him consistently debate and argue in favor of PRT in place of the Northstar. I also sat through numerous debates with Olson and not once did he mention it as a replacement system for metro transit."

The media needs to do an investigative story on PRT. Mark Olson, Michele Bachmann and other highway expansion promoters in Minnesota (and other states) have used PRT as a stalking horse to bash transit intiatives like the Hiawatha LRT and Northstar.
