Yes, the State Legislature needs a whole lot more people like Mark Olson. At times his standards and expectations are difficult to meet, but Mark's makes me, the Legislature, and the State of Minnesota so much better.
Flashback to 2005.... Minnesota Politics:
Even though nothing is getting done, the legislature continues to meet to fulfill its obligations under the state constitution. Usually, they meet for a few minutes, staying just long enough to adjourn until the next meeting three days hence. Lately, crazy cooter Mark Olson has tried repeatedly to take up budget issues, but he is rebuffed.
A couple of Mark Olson's political pals give two thumbs up to Olson's fantasy-based PRT while knocking reality-based transit:
Perhaps people have forgotten that the much-praised light rail between downtown Minneapolis and the MOA is kept viable by subsidies.
LRT is much-praised... even by Republicans Tim Pawlenty and Steve Sviggum. Few legislators have patience anymore for Olson's PRT shennanigans.
A year ago, the good citizens of the 6th Ward of Minneapolis voted Gary Dean Zimmermann out of office. Tomorrow, I hope the good citizens of Sherburne County will vote Zimmmermann's PRT pod pal Mark Olson out of office too.
